In this one, Popeye and Bluto run competing penny arcades and fight to get Wimpy as their customer, who has yet to be convinced he should pay!

One of our favourite, this episode was directed by Dave Fleischer himself and is a very nice Black and White one (1939).


With Poopdeck Pappy
Released: Nov 15, 1940
Pappy is 99 and wants to spend a night out! Popeye tries everything he can to get him to sleep but with no luck. Pappy finds a way out and ends up a sleazy bar!

One of the best Popeye episodes ever!

Shuteye Popeye
Released: Oct 3, 1952
Popeye snores way too much for the mouse living at his place, who decides to take action. Some great battle ensues between the little rodent and your favourite sailor.

Interestingly, the way the mouse is dressed reminds one of another famous rodent in cartoons...

Big Bad Sindbad

When Popeye takes his nephews to the museum of Nautical History and tells them about how he met Sindbad, they rearrange Sindbad's statue according to their uncle's tale.

A funny adaptation of "Cinderella" with Popeye as cinderfella!
Olive is throwing a ball to choose her future husband and of course Bluto and Popeye are in the competition. But Bluto doesn't have a fairy godfather!




Taxi Turvy

This time, Popeye and Bluto both work as cab drivers and are of course competing for fares. When it comes to driving Olive around, the competition gets up a notch...





I Don't Scare
Released: Nov 16, 1956
Popeye manages to get to Olive first for a date.Seeing that she is superstitious, Bluto makes her believe that it is Friday The 13th and that going out would be a bad idea.

Popeye, who isn't superstitious, doesn't know that Bluto is manipulating them!



A Haul In One
Released: Dec 14, 1956
Amazingly enough, Bluto and Popeye work together as team mates in this episode for a moving company. Olive hires them to move out, and it quickly becomes a contest between Popeye and Bluto to find out who can lift more.

Once again, Popeye will need some spinach towards the end and beats Bluto!


Patriotic Popeye

It is the 4th of July and Popeye catches his two nephews playing with fireworks. When he tekaes them away, the two kids start imagining ways to get them back and that means trouble for Popeye!



Spree Lunch

Popeye and Bluto both run competiting diners and try to lure Wimpy into their respective shops. But since Wimpy isn't too good at paying his bills...
